Frequently asked questions about cleaning robots

Does the robot cleaner work on carpet and hard floors?

Yes, most modern cleaning robots automatically recognize the surface and adjust their suction power accordingly. On hard floors, they clean thoroughly and quietly, while on carpets they often switch to a more powerful suction mode. However, high-pile carpets can be problematic - it depends on the model.

What is the difference between a robot vacuum and a robot mop?

A robot vacuum cleaner removes dust, crumbs and hair using a rotating brush and suction power. A robot mop also cleans damp with a water tank and mop cloth. Many devices today combine both in a 2-in-1 system.

How good are robot cleaners at cleaning pet hair?

Good models with strong suction power and rubber brushes are very effective on pet hair - especially on smooth floors. It is important to clean the brushes regularly so that no hair gets caught in them. Special "pet" models are optimized for pet households.

Can the robot recognize stairs and fall down?

No, modern cleaning robots are equipped with fall sensors. These reliably detect stairs or edges and stop the robot in good time. Nevertheless, it is advisable to clean the sensor area regularly to ensure that it works reliably.

How long does a robot cleaner's battery last?

No, modern cleaning robots are equipped with fall sensors. These reliably detect stairs or edges and stop the robot in good time. Nevertheless, it is advisable to clean the sensor area regularly to ensure that it works reliably.

Are cleaning robots also suitable for commercial areas?

Yes, there are specialized cleaning robots for commercial use - with larger dust containers, more powerful batteries, higher area performance and often with an automatic charging and emptying station. They are suitable for offices, hotels, warehouses or sales areas.

How much area can a cleaning robot clean in one go?

That depends on the model:

Standard models: up to approx. 150-250 m²

Professional/industrial appliances: up to over 1000 m²
Many appliances can automatically return to the charging station when the battery is empty and then continue working in the same place (uninterrupted cleaning).

Are cleaning robots compatible with working hours, rest periods or opening times?

How is it ensured that the robot does not enter sensitive areas (e.g. conference rooms, customer zones)?

Digital exclusion zones in the app or physical barriers can be used to exclude certain rooms, zones or floor types. Some models even offer access control via RFID or are controlled centrally via a building management system.

How does maintenance work in everyday commercial life?

Commercial cleaning robots are designed for intensive use. Nevertheless, brushes, filters and sensors must be checked regularly (e.g. weekly). Many models offer automatic status messages when maintenance is required or components are blocked.

How reliable is navigation in complex areas with lots of furniture or customer traffic?

Modern devices use LiDAR, cameras or 3D sensors for precise navigation - even in changing environments. They recognize people, furniture and obstacles and adapt the route dynamically. A model with AI-based navigation is recommended for heavily frequented areas.

What savings or advantages does a cleaning robot offer in operation?
  • Time savings for cleaning staff

  • Continuous maintenance cleaning, also outside working hours

  • Reduced personnel costs for simple routine tasks

  • Consistent cleaning quality

  • For large areas: significantly fewer cleaning cycles per square meter
